How is fiber Internet installed?

Updated 4 months ago.

Fiber Internet is installed by utilizing a dedicated fiber optic cable (often called a drop) that connects a nearby distribution terminal to an optical network terminal (ONT), usually placed inside the business itself. Once the equipment has been physically installed, the Internet service is configured by our Test and Turn-Up team on one of the ports of the ONT. This port is then connected to either your firewall or router, or Metronet Managed Router. Please note, even if an ONT has multiple unused ports, they may not be configured to provide Internet service.
